Paint Cost Guide
Whether you are painting your cabinets or the whole interior of your house, pause and think about how much money you are willing to spend and if you want to do it on your own or hire a painter to do the job for you.
If you are planning on painting the interior of your home, you can expect to pay around $1,700 on paint itself. While for exterior paint, you can expect to pay around $2,600 on paint. There are many colors, finishes, and textures to choose from for interior paint. If you plan on painting only one room, that will cost around $400- $800. This does not include the crown molding and trim, so the price will go up for these. If you are planning on painting more than one room, you may multiply the numbers above by the amount of rooms you are planning to paint. Keep in mind that larger walls and columns will add to the price.
There are many paint options to choose from so it is advised to be educated in order to pick the best option that fits your needs. Water- based paint is ecofriendly and dries quick. Oil- based paint has a glossy finish and is fairly durable. Flat paint has a shine to it, while matte paint forms a heavy layer on the wall as it absorbs light.
To prepare for the painting to begin, make sure that all furniture is out of the way or covered to protect it from the paint. Walls should be clean so that the new paint will go on smoothly and last for a long time. For exterior wall cleaning, the best way to do this is by pressure washing the walls.
An essential tool to have when you start painting is tape. Tape helps cover up areas that you want to avoid painting like electrical outlets, ceilings, etc. Painters tape is also helpful when trying to create designs like diagonal, horizontal, vertical lines and even checkered.
